Highlights of the Larapinta Trail, a quintessential outback experience, strengthen bond with your child

Imagine yourself with your child standing on the top of a mountain looking around at the ancient landscape of lifted and folded sandstone and quartzite, spinifex-covered crumpled hills, and red cliffs contrasted with ghost gums and blue sky. You did this together. You are both speechless with awe.

You sleep soundly in swags after admiring the stars and contemplating the universe. Nutritious food nourishes you both. Your love of learning is satisfied by flora and fauna, local geology, and cultural practices. Fireside chats and intentional dialogue increase awareness and connection.

You both slow down to nature’s frequency, find presence, and rediscover joy. There is laughter and fun getting to know others through shared experiences. The simplicity allows clarity on what’s important. They realise they are capable of so much more. There is much LOVE.

Itinerary Summary:

Day 1: Pick up from Alice Springs Airport around lunchtime, and drive to private camp in the West MacDonnell Range’s. Welcome activity.

Day 2: Razorback Adventure includes incredible views, packed lunch, and finish at a waterhole, 12kms. Campfire dinner.

Day 3: Ormiston Gorge Pound Walk includes beautiful scenery, towering cliffs, native grasses, possible water crossing, reflective activity, 8.5kms. Back to Alice in the afternoon. Undoolya Ridge BBQ dinner.

Day 4: Bush Balm Workshop, fly home around lunchtime.

What’s included:

We are aiming to facilitate an extraordinary experience for you and your child in this ancient landscape. All the organisation, transport, food preparation, camping, catering equipment, and other logistics are taken care of, so you can reconnect with yourself, your child, other guests, and the country in a relaxed, expansive, and rejuvenating way.

Some other points of note:

• This adventure will require moderate to high fitness and agility. The day trips will include walking about 10 kms for between 5-8 hours across uneven terrain with steep ascents and descents, carrying a day pack, and a cold swim. This will be more enjoyable with training beforehand and a great opportunity to work towards a goal together.
• You will be sent a packing list and a form gathering emergency contact details, medical information, and nutritional requirements.
• Flight options are with Qantas, Virgin and Bonza.
• This will be an alcohol-free trip.
• There is no phone coverage in the West MacDonnell Ranges.
• The itinerary is subject to change.

-Cancellation from 8 weeks plus before start – 100% refund minus the deposit or transfer to another person minus $100 administration fee, or 100% credit.
-Cancellation from 4 – 8 weeks before start – 50% refund or transfer to another person minus a $100 admin fee or 100% credit.

-Cancellation from 0-30 days – No refund or credit.

No refund or credit if you arrive late, leave early, have flight cancellations, travel delays, or general illness.

If Wellness on Wheels must cancel the trip for any reason you may receive a 100% refund or transfer your booking to a future trip. Wellness on Wheels will not be liable for any other participant expenses such as airline tickets, loss of work, and/or costs associated with preparing for the trip.

Wellness on Wheels reserves the right to modify or adapt the trip without notice in the interests of participant safety, because of adverse weather, changing government and health requirements, or other reasons.
